The New House

It’s peaceful here. We can sit out on the deck and watch fireflies amidst the pines. Two hills are in the distance. One falls in front of the other and the impression of a valley forms. There are trees. There are crickets at night and birds in the morning.

While it’s not the easy jaunt downtown on the Orange Line from Jamaica Plain, there isn’t the constant sound of the T rattling away. We’re no longer next to a fire station or have cars barreling down the road.

We have a yard to play in and there aren’t syringes or broken liquor bottles along the sidewalks.
