Sent in the latest revision of a poem. It’s been interesting working with this editor and having the back and forth of revision and submission. It reminded of being in a workshop and working with Jack or Ted. The poem is much stronger and tighter than it was before; the stamina to keep revising though can seem daunting. Often, I want to move on. Write something new. How many poems have I written that are somewhat sloppy or sprawling? Is it normally one or two revisions before I put it away, not bothering to submit? How many poems and stories are gathering dust in notebooks or idling in file directories on my hard drive? At least they’re written. It’s the idea of all those unwritten poems and stories that is the most daunting.
